Attention Woodie fans—have we got the perfect event for you! On July 11th, the Automobile Driving Museum in El Segundo, CA will be hosting Woodies in the Park from 10am to 4pm. This event is held each year to commemorate the American classic woodie station wagons. During the event, attendees will be able to peruse the awesome cars and listen to live surf bands.
The event is limited to only 80 vehicles, so make sure to register your vehicle ASAP. Because the event is hosted by the Automobile Driving Museum, you’ll also get to hear plenty about the history of Woodies, and how Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys popularized the now common name. Originally, station wagons weren’t considered beach cars, but rather automobiles that could easily transport families and their luggage. But, as the 60s progressed, old fashioned Woodies became a part of surf tradition.
