Electric vehicles have been growing strong over the past couple years, especially in the U.S. as more infrastructure has been rolled out to support them. With hundreds of thousands of EVs two years, the industry has seen tremendous growth, along with expectations that 20% of the vehicles on the road in the U.S. will by 2025. Along with the growing popularity of electric vehicles, we have seen a simultaneous growth in EV options as manufactures have taken steps to meet the demand. With that in mind, here are five of the best EVs of 2022 and 2024.
2024 Chevy Bolt
The Chevy Bolt continues to be one of the most popular EVs on the market, particularly among car buyers who prize affordability as they shop for electric vehicles. It’s not just an economical purchase either, the Bolt has a good amount of zip, terrific range compared to many other EVs, as well as a reasonable amount of space in the interior for a smaller car. It's also got a touch screen that’s 10.2 inches and plenty of technological bells and whistles that provide everything from entertainment to safety and maintenance information.
2022 Tesla Model 3
Maintaining its hold as one of the best and most well regarded EVs is the 2022 Tesla Model 3. It’s definitely on the affordable side too, in addition to having very high safety ratings across the board. There are unlikely to be any major changes from the 2022 to the 2024 model, which speaks to the excellent quality that has been established by the Model 3 since 2017. It also has excellent range, as well as three levels to choose from if you prefer a longer-range battery or a higher level of performance.

2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5
The 2024 Ioniq 5 has strong ratings in just about every category that EVs are evaluated in, from value to technology to safety. While it’s not the cheapest EV on the market, it’s also not much higher than some of the more affordable options on this list. One of the main benefits of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is its quick charging capability, which is part of the reason it’s one of the most popular and well-liked electric crossover SUVs on the market. The dash includes two large displays on the dash which may seem cumbersome to those who are not used to it, but they provide a wealth of information that gives it high ratings on the technological side.
2024 Nissan Leaf
Part of the Leaf’s popularity is no doubt because it has a much lower sticker price than most EVs, but it still doesn’t lose much in terms of handling, technology, or safety. It does, however, have a shorter driving range than many other options on the market, but it has decent ratings in most categories with particularly strong showings for safety and overall performance.
2022 Lucid Air
Rating as one of the best EVs in recent years, the 2022 Lucid Air has bragging rights over a lot of the competition. It’s a luxury car and has a price tag that reflects that, but it also has the longest range on this list, with over a 500 mile range on a full charge. It has excellent acceleration, as well as all the comfort and technology you would expect from a high-end vehicle. In addition to a robust infotainment system, the Lucid Air has a surprising amount of cargo space and among the highest critical ratings of any EV.
