Car Shipping Tirana
Tirana, the country's biggest city, has served as its capital since 1920. It serves as the country's political and cultural epicenter. The city has excellent road methods thanks to its proximity to airports, railroads, and the port city of Durres (which is only 35 kilometers away). Moving could be a practical solution if you plan to settle there permanently or start a new job there.
The situation in the country has improved over the years after withdrawing from communism and the city is on a rapid development spree. Just like hauling to any country, there are specific requirements and paperwork to fill in that need to be met for hauling. That is one of the major reasons that you need to contact a reputed and experienced company such as A1-AT service. Additionally, there are custom fees to be paid before you can get the delivery. As regulations keep changing with time, to know more about the latest regulations, contact the Albanian Embassy.

Moving a vehicle
The weather conditions need to be considered before it is scheduled to be moved. It is best to avoid the winter months as it is cloudy and wet most of the time. Thus, avoid moving during this time as delays might happen. However, as Tirana is close to the port, your car will be hauled with ease and driven down to the main city. Though with the proximity to the coast, imports are possible all year round delays happen during the rough weather.
Procedure
With plenty of paperwork, it is important that the right documents are filed and duty paid in advance with the required authority, including the Title 19 Customs Duties. Other important documents include:
- Registration/title deed
- Owners Passport
- Residence permit
- Proof of ownership
- Documents and invoice of purchase
You may need to refer to the Albania customs regulations to understand the limitations and requirements. It will help you stay updated when you are moving. You need to consider that as all banks are closed on Saturday and Sunday, transfer the required funds before that.
Methods
If you plan on using the Roll-on/Roll-Off method of shipment, you might need to clean out your car, all external parts and air conditioning gases need to be removed and as per regulations, you can only leave the jack, floor mats, and the spare tire. Another important aspect is that you need to steam clean it before it is moved so that it is not quarantined on arrival and cleaned before it is delivered by the company. This will expedite the process.
As mentioned, Roll on/Roll off or RORO as popularly termed, is the cheapest method. It is driven on board and fastened or harnessed so that it doesn’t move and then rolled off the ship at the harbor. The other method is the enclosed container method. Here the car is enclosed in a 20ft or 40 feet container along with other household goods and it is hauled with all accessories. This is more expensive as the auto is completely locked and secured within an enclosed container. Whether the car is sent by RORO or container option, it will reach the port, and then be driven.
However, consider the cost to the nearest U.S. port before it is moved. When the car reaches the Albanian harbor, the owners will need to pay the customs duties, complete the safety procedures, and get it tested for emissions and other necessary checks. Only then you can get it registered in Albania. To know more about the process and regulations, consult the U.S. Embassy in Albania.
