Moving your belongings overseas, whether it's from a location such as New York or California or even from New Jersey, can be a costly and potentially overwhelming step for many. Delivering your car or motorcycle might seem like a huge endeavor, but using the right services can eliminate the stress. Make sure to research information about the dealers and check the reviews of services before you move. Once you have thoroughly researched and evaluated the dealers and services, it is essential to make a copy of all the necessary documents, including the car's title, registration, registration, insurance, and insurance, to ensure a smooth and hassle-free car experience. Additionally, it is important to research and compare different firms' prices to find the most cost-effective option. Once you have narrowed down your options, reach out to the shortlisted companies to request a quote based on your specific car model and destination.
With careful planning, the process can go off without a hitch. From bustling Los Angeles to the far reaches of Taiwan, also known as the Republic of China (ROC), with our strategic logistics and careful transit planning, your shipments are in safe hands. Taiwan is a small island in East Asia featuring four major ports - Kaohsiung, Keelung, Taichung, and Hualien. Each port is well equipped to handle delivery in containers, ensuring safety and care during the process of delivering from the ship to the port.
All these ports are regulated by international and local regulations and are fully capable of handling your shipments while ensuring your rights are safeguarded. We offer competitive rates and a transparent VAT calculation which is added to total delivery cost. If you're looking to haul, we understand the importance of ensuring that your rights are safeguarded and that you receive competitive rates with a transparent VAT calculation. When moving, it is essential to work with a reputable company that specializes in international hauling. This will ensure that your car is handled with care, that all necessary paperwork and customs requirements are fulfilled, and that you receive reliable tracking and updates throughout the process. Moving can be a convenient and efficient way to haul, allowing you to explore the beautiful island at your own pace.
If the vehicle you intend to export is valued at over $20,000 US Dollars, then you will need to apply for an Import Permit from the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) before moving. If it is valued at USD 20,000 or less, then no special permit is required.
Costs
If the auto you intend to export is valued at over $20,000 US Dollars, then you will need to ensure that all necessary documentation is in order. You will need to apply for an Import Permit from Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) before delivering or indeed, your motorcycle. If your motorcar is valued at USD 20,000 or less, then no special permit is required. If it is valued at over USD 20,000, however, you will need to navigate through the process of obtaining a special permit to haul. This permit, known as the Import Permission for Vehicles, is required by the government and can be obtained through the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. Once you have obtained the permit, you can then proceed with arranging the logistics. It is important to carefully research and select a reputable company that specializes in hauling to this destination.
Similar to most countries, Taiwan has several customs duties and charges associated with the importation for private use. The fees are calculated based on the commonly adopted formula for determining the vehicle’s “Customs Value” at CIF (Cost + Insurance + Freight). Once the Customs Value at CIF is calculated, individuals interested in engaging our services to Taiwan can proceed with the process, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared and the correct method is selected. It is important to work with a reputable company that has experience and understands the regulations and requirements. Additionally, it is advisable to consider any additional costs such as customs duties and taxes that may be incurred, as well as the regulations and documentation requirements set by the government for importing. Seeking guidance from a professional company experienced in moving can help streamline the process and ensure a smooth delivery.
How to Calculate Duties/Taxes/Fees
- Import Duty = Customs Value x 17.5%
- Commodity Tax = (Customs Value + Import Duty) x Commodity Tax Rate (the commodity tax rate varies from 25%-30% depending on its engine size)
- Business Tax = (Customs Value + Import Duty + Commodity Tax) x 5% (current business tax rate)
- Trade Promotion Service Fee = Customs Value x 0.04% (current trade promotion fee rate)
After clearing customs, the vehicle will then have to undergo an environmental protection inspection and pass an energy efficiency standard test, both of which are administered by the Automotive Research and Testing Center.
It is very helpful if the importer has the following documents available throughout the process to allow for a more seamless transition. This list is not all-encompassing and it is in your best interest to consult directly with the Customs Department before arranging the delivery.

The Overseas Methods
- Lift On/Lift Off is one of the most common forms and is available to any individuals with inoperable autos and crated heavy cargo such as engines or equipment. A crane is used to lift the cargo aboard the ship as well as off of the boat.
- Roll On/Roll Off is the least expensive and most popular way to haul to another country. Your equipment or vehicle must have the ability to roll on and off of the boat using a ramp.
- Open air such as Flat Rack is also highly suggested for individuals who value safety while travelling internationally. A metal frame is used to safely haul your goods to the ship. Shrink wrap can be used to safeguard cargo in the event of bad weather.
- The container method isn’t available to everyone unless their tools fits into a 40-foot container. This is the most expensive and secure form we offer our customers.
