If you plan to visit Tabuk at some point in the future, you may want to bring your own vehicle with you so you can get around when you want/need to and not have to depend on public transportation. Shipping a vehicle to Tabuk can be done as long as you are working with an experienced service like A1 AT Service. Before you get started, you will want to make sure that you are familiar with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection as well as the customs regulations in Saudi Arabia.
The U.S. Department of State has a more comprehensive list of contacts that may help you with all aspects of your transportation including learning how to drive in Saudi Arabia than either U.S. Customs and Border Protection or Saudi Arabian Customs.
You must work with us to make sure that all the paperwork is submitted and that you have a copy of everything that is needed. If you are unable to pick up your vehicle from the port once it is cleared in customs, you will have the opportunity to select your agent to pick up your vehicle for you and deliver it to your new location. Some paperwork that you will be responsible for includes:
- A copy of your driver's license
- A copy of your social security card
- The title to your vehicle that you want to ship to Tabuk.
You may also be asked to provide other documentation but your agent will be able to prepare a list for you. If you pay any customs fees or taxes, be sure to keep up with your receipts to provide proof of this payment when necessary. Again, your agent will be your main contact person throughout this process.
How Should You Dispatch Your Vehicle?
Once you go over all the details with your agent, you will need to finalize your plans which will include determining which option would work best for your needs. You have two main ways to choose from to get your vehicle from the port in the United States to the port of entry in Saudi Arabia. The first way is the Roll On/ Roll Off shipping method of the second one is the container method. Most people will choose the roll-on/Roll-off method because it is less expensive and it is very simple to do. With this method, your vehicle is driven directly onto the deck of the ship and then harnessed down for the trip over. Once it reaches the port, it is then driven off and turned over to customs to be cleared and released to you. With this method, your vehicle will have to be prepared beforehand so please check with your agent to see what all you have to do. The second method is container shipping. While this method is more expensive, it will protect your vehicle from the harmful elements of the sea during travel. If you have a luxury vehicle or if you have a classic vehicle, you will most likely want to provide as much protection as possible. Containers come in two different sizes; 20-foot or 40-foot containers. You will be able to pack all household items inside to ship everything at one time.
Checking in with Customs in the Country
Once the vehicle has been shipped to the port in Saudi Arabia, you will need to be available or have a representative available to pick it up. Once the vehicle has been released, you will then be able to drive it around. Familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations of driving in Tabuk. Your vehicle will need to pass the emissions test along with other tests before it is released. Before you ship your vehicle, check to see what the test are and make modifications to your vehicle before you ship it. If you don’t, it could be delayed.
