It is best if the vehicle is in the name of a Hungarian citizen or you will hold a Hungarian Residence Permit as this permit will help you fill out all your other paperwork with considerable ease. It is critical to consider that the vehicles made in the United States may need to have some technical modifications done to them before shipment. Key Considerations About Auto Import
A vehicle can be imported into Hungary duty-free, if the vehicle has a catalysator, or catalytic converter, even if it is temporary. However, you must have a valid Hungarian Residence Permit because tourists or those without that permit are not allowed to import a car.
However, as per the rules, vehicles coming into Hungary should be newer. Additionally, a vehicle has to be less than four years old. If a vehicle is older than four years, it will need to pass an environmental examination. You will be responsible for the cost of that test. If necessary, you may need to do some degree of technical modifications for your vehicle to pass through. Once the vehicle passes the emissions test and is cleared by Customs, you will be given a registration number from Hungary to assist you further.
Essential Paperwork Needed
You will need to fill out and return the right paperwork to avoid any delays. The documents you will need include:

- Invoice of the vehicle which is signed by the owner
- Identification documents- work or residence visa
- Liability insurance

- Original car registration

Receiving the Vehicle in Szolnok
