Transporting a Car to Pakistan.
All of the vehicles which are imported in the country have to be thoroughly classified with the Harmonized Tariff System. What is more, you are going to need the following paperwork:
- Origin Certificate.
- Passport as well as a visa.
- Bill of lading.
- Insurance.
- Documentation for the clearance from the customs.
- Purchase invoice.
- Letter of credit if needed.
If you want to successfully ship a vehicle to Pakistan from the USA, you would have to gain insight on the specifications and the regulations set forth by the Federal Revenue Board of Pakistan. The new vehicles are subjected to a 50% duty if the engine is more than 8,000cc as well as additional taxes. The threshold value that can be allocated is 90% of the CIF value. This makes shipping to Pakistan a particularly expensive destination to ship your car to.
However, you might be able to classify for the special status. In order to do so, your car has to be fairly new or not more than three years old and you would have to prove that due to moving to Pakistan, you need to import the vehicle. Other conditions are that the car should be personal possession or to be intended as a gift. The special regime is usable only once every two years per person. The duties, in this case, are based on the displacement of the engine.
We are going to require you to get the documents ready prior to the shipment. You may also need to get your car picked up from your home and delivered to you in Pakistan. This is the preferable door-to-door service which is going to include us picking up the car and getting it at the destination port for you, passing through all checkpoints successfully. The rules require that you are there when your vehicle comes through customs checkpoint as soon as it arrives at the port. You will need to be able to provide the documentation needed in order to prove that the vehicle is yours.
Shipping Methods.
You can choose the shipping method of preference based on the cost and your personal requirements. With this in mind, you can go for Roll-On/Roll-Off shipping and container shipping. Roll-on/Roll-off requires you to drive your vehicle (roll it) on its own vehicles on a shipping deck on the freight carrier. This is by far the fastest and cheapest water-based transport method but it’s also going to leave your car exposed to the weather conditions and you can’t transport any kinds of personal belongings.
Container shipping, on the other hand, even more expensive, provides you with the chance to pick a 20ft and a 40ft container and fill it with as many belongings as you need. It’s also a bit slower but that’s because of the additional checkpoints.
