Method of Shipping Vehicles.
There are documents as well as procedures that must be followed according to the Azores Customs Department, which comes under the jurisprudence of Portugal. A1 Auto Transport Service will be able to assist you through the import process. You will need to decide on two different shipping methods; container shipping and Roll On/ Roll Off method. You can decide what shipping method works best for you by several factors.
Container Shipping is a great option for those who want to ship more than just a vehicle to the islands. You will be able to select a 20 foot or 40 foot container for shipping. Your container will be loaded onto the deck of the ship by a crane. It will be loaded off the ship using a crane. This method of shipping is used for anyone who wants to protect a luxury vehicle or expensive vehicle from the elements of weather on board the cargo ship. A container will seal up protecting it from anything while in transport.
Roll On/ Roll Off shipping this method is the cheapest and the easiest. Your car is driven onto the deck of the ship and then transported. When it reaches the port, it will be driven off. Your vehicle cannot have any air conditioning gas or any personal belongings inside the vehicle. The vehicle will need to be steam cleaned both inside and out otherwise you will be delayed once it reaches the port or before it enters the ship. The delay will also include a professional hired to clean it for you and then you will be charged for that service. Once it has been cleaned, it will be presented again for importing.
