You can expect a few small delays such as the stamping from customs when they are trying to release your vehicle. If you want to ship a vehicle to Namibia, you may find that it's very expensive to do so, costing between $3,000 and $7,000 to completely transport it there. - One vehicle allowed to be imported for each family without paying duty or the 15% taxes.
- The vehicle must be owned by you for up to two years after importing to Namibia.
- An import permit will not be required if you plan on coming to Namibia for a brief visit.
- If your vehicle is exported again within a year of moving to Namibia, you will fall into the exempt category
When you export your vehicle, you will need to decide which method of shipping you are most interested in. There are two methods to choose from; Roll On/ Roll Off and container shipping. The Roll On/ Roll Off consists of driving your vehicle onto the open deck of a freight ship where it will remain during transport. Once the ship reaches the port, it will be driven off. The second option is the container shipping option which provides shelter for your vehicle during the trip. You can also securely place personal items inside the container during transport if desired.
