It is a country in Southeast Africa that is bordered partially by the Indian Ocean. The country is largely based on agriculture and has many natural resources. Mozambique is also becoming known for its petroleum and aluminum production, as well as chemical manufacturing.
There are many reasons why a person might be going there from the U.S. to reside or even stay a while. Oftentimes, it is for study or employment. Regardless of why consider having your auto moved to the country so that you can leisurely travel throughout the country and its surroundings.

Seaports and Popular Destinations
The country is home to five different seaports. These piers are all located along the coast of the Indian Ocean. Some are significantly larger than others, but regardless, they all make it easier to have an auto move to the country. Here are the five seaports that exist there:
- Port of Maputo
- Port of Beira
- Harbor of Quelimane
- Dock of Nacala
- Port of Pemba
These harbors allow import. However, some of them may not accept RO/RO, so make sure that you can find hauling to the correct one if the one closest to you doesn't accept the method of shipment you selected for it. You must be present on the day that it arrives. A dock will not hold a vehicle for the owner to retrieve it.
Required Documents
- Passport (original)
- Registration card (original)
- Purchase invoice (original)
- Import permit
- Inspection report
- Bill of lading
The Methods of Shipment
There are technically three ways to have it exported. Only two of these methods are practical, considering that the air option is very expensive and not affordable for many.
The RO/RO method is the least costly option for the shipment. The automobile will be empty with a few exceptions and will be required to roll onto and off of the ship. This method is commonly chosen but not accepted at all seaports.
The container option is also a great option. This method allows the owner to move other belongings as well. The motorcar and the container can be packed with property allowed by Customs. The container can be shared with someone and that will help to lessen the cost.
Be sure that you contact the Embassy before you try to have it moved. You will have to make sure that you are complying with the shipment requirements set for the country. The embassy will inform you of all current regulations and required documentation.

- Flat Rack
- Roll On/Roll Off
- Lift On/Lift Off
- Container method
The RoRo, LoLo, and flat rack services we have are all open-air methods. RoRo is the most favored and inexpensive option overall but your heavy equipment or auto must have the ability to drive onto and off of the ship using a ramp. LoLo is for inoperable ones and crated equipment that needs to be lifted onto the boat, while the flat rack is a more secure open-air service that fastens your cargo to a frame. Container moving is an enclosed service that is only available to those with gear small enough to fit into a 40ft container.
