Car Shipping Marrakech
Importing a Car to Marrakech From The United States
Marrakech is one of the busiest cities in Morocco. In recent years it has become an epicenter for both businesses as well as the tourist industry. Marrakech is a prime location to live if you have relocated to Morocco. Once you are in the city you may have the need to import your personal car in order to travel without having to hire a taxi or rent a car. Shipping a car overseas can seem like an overwhelming task to undertake, but with the help of an experienced international auto transport company, the shipping process will be made to seem quite simple. While everything in life has rules to abide by, you will find that importing a car to Marrakech has many rules and regulations as well. Unlike driving a car between states in the U.S. you will need to provide many documents to not only the auto transport company but to customs as well. To get started you will need to provide a driver’s license, social security card, car title and insurance proof and a signed Power of Attorney form to the transport company to begin the shipping process. They will need other paperwork as well and will instruct you on that as you progress through the shipping order. U.S. Customs is an excellent resource for learning about export regulations for the United States as well as travel advisories for international travel to Marrakech.

Customs Regulations to Be Aware Of
Anytime that you import a car to another country, you will need to abide by the customs regulations that have been set by the Government of the country that you are shipping to. For importing a car into Marrakech you will need to make sure that once the car has cleared customs it will only be driven as a personal car and that you make no attempts to sell it or gift it to someone else. While import duties are required by law to be paid, the Government does allow the car to be in Marrakech for up to three months before you will need to pay them. For residents who have permanently relocated their car, those fees can be very high but will only need to be paid once. Customs agents will perform a physical inspection of the car at the checkpoint as well as a check for the required documents. The primary documents that you will have to provide are:
- Import Permit
- Passport
- Original Bill of Lading
- Title and Registration
- Original Bill of Sale
While those are the basic documents you will want to check with the international transport company for information on other paperwork that will be necessary for customs or you may contact the Embassy of Morocco in Washington, DC.
Available Shipping to Marrakech
While the entire shipping process can seem like a large task to take on, making a decision on how to ship your car is generally an easy decision to make when you work together with your transport agent and they have all of the information on the type of car you own, the location your car will be leaving the U.S. from and whether you may need to ship other items along with the car when it is shipped overseas. Listed below are the available ways to ship a car to Marrakech:
Ro-Ro Shipping. Also known as Roll-On Roll-Off Shipping, this is the most common way to ship a car overseas to Marrakech. The car is rolled onto the ship at the loading port, securely strapped into place, and then rolled off the ship when it reaches the docking port in Marrakech. Once it has been taken off the ship you can easily take it through the customs checkpoint, have it inspected and be on your way as quickly as possible.
Container Shipping- When you want to make sure your car is not exposed to salt-water and the wind rising from the often tumultuous ocean, or you may need to have your household goods transported overseas at the same time you ship your car, you may decide to use a container to transport everything all at once. You will need to pay for the use of the shipping container, which will make container shipping a bit more expensive than Ro-Ro but it is a very effective way to ship especially when you have more than a car to move overseas.
Your transport agent will be able to fully explain all available shipping methods to you and will assist you with each step of planning your overseas shipment.
