Documentation
With any import there are a number of documents that are needed to validate the import process. Some of these include:
- Valid passport and driving license.
- Insurance on the vehicle.
- Proof of insurance.
- Bill of Lading.
- Bill of Sale.
These documents will be required at U.S port and at the Mozambique Customs department. It is best to keep multiple copies for submission as and when needed.
Methods associated with vehicle shipment
There are primarily three methods, associated with vehicle exportation to Mozambique. There are only two practical methods among these three, as air relocation is extremely expensive and cannot be afforded by majority of people.
RORO hauling method is considered to be the least costly option of your vehicle’s cargo. This vehicle needs to be empty, devoid of air conditioning gas, and any other personal belongings. You need to steam clean the vehicle, leave the car jack, and spare tire and an extra set of keys in the vehicle. The vehicle is driven on and off the ship using its own wheels. Then it is secured on the deck of the ship till it reaches the Port of Maputo.
Another option is Container relocation, where owners of the vehicle can now enjoy the liberty to ship their vehicle along with personal or household belongings. The container is packed, as per the regulation of the Mozambique Customs. To reduce the cost you are allowed to share the container space with others.
