Car Shipping Batumi
The second largest city in Georgia, Batumi is strategically situated on the Black Sea coast, making it an important seaport. With manufacturing and ship-building industries boosting the economy of the city, it contributes to the national GDP. After becoming independent, the country has stabilized and is one of the emerging forces in the region.
If you plan on staying here for a couple of years, it is best to import your vehicle as the country lacks an auto manufacturing industry. Thus, most of the imported vehicles are very expensive, so it is cheaper to import your vehicle here. To make vehicle imports easy due to the incessant demand for cars, the laws pertaining to import are flexible while the spare parts for Japanese and U.S-made vehicles are easily available.
A1 AT works with you at every step to ensure a smooth transit and delivery of the car or any other vehicle that has to be moved. For additional details and the latest updates, you can contact the Embassy of Georgia

Documentation for import
As per the rules and regulations, before you send out the vehicle from the USA, you need to notify the U.S Customs at least 72 hours before the vehicle is shipped. This is important to get the clearances in advance so that there is no delay in moving the vehicle. Additionally, the Georgia Revenue Service requires validating the documents before the import is considered legal. Some of these important documents include:
- Title deed.
- Bill of sale with details on engine/chassis number, VIN, make, and model.
- Insurance documents.
- Residence visa/Work permit for Georgia.
- Import license.
- Passport and driving license of the vehicle owner.
As per the tax regulations, all imported vehicles have to pay 18% VAT and 12% customs duty, based on the cost, insurance, and freight charges. If you are planning to live here temporarily or for a short time, say about a year, you have the option of temporary import and can extend it for another 12 months. However, if you are importing it permanently, you need to pay all of the taxes. On a temporary permit, the import duty is not levied but you have to pay 18% VAT as bank security.
Additionally, one of the specifics of importing vehicles to Georgia includes the requirement for notification of cargo. This is mandatory due to security requirements in the country. The Customs department has to be notified about the vehicle import in advance so they can verify the authenticity before it comes into the country. We take care of all aspects of the vehicle shipment and logistics, including getting all of the permits and validations in advance.
Your car can be hauled onto a ship in one of two main ways. This includes Roll-on/Roll-off hauling in which your car is driven directly onto the deck on its wheels and unloaded from a designated parking spot. When you are disabling the car alarm and draining the AC gas you are not permitted to place any of your belongings inside the car. With container carrying, you may bring your household items along with your car. As a result, the costs will change based on the mode of dispatch you choose.
