Importing a vehicle into Thailand for personal use can be overwhelming if you do not have the correct documents and knowledge and a trustworthy auto transport company. The first step is determining whether the vehicle will be permanently or temporarily in Thailand. If you intend to keep the car in Thailand for less than 6 months, following the temporary import process is best. Any longer than six months, however, requires the permanent import process.

Temporary import
A bank guarantee or cash deposit in the whole amount is required if the car is not re-exported within the allotted period (6 months), even though no customs duties, taxes, or fees are payable for the temporary import of a vehicle. The importer will receive their cash deposit or bank guarantee if the shipment is sent and delivered on schedule.

Descriptions for A1’s Overseas Transport Methods
- LoLo Shipping: This overseas shipping service requires a crane to safely lift cargo onto and off the boat. A1 strongly urges this service for shipping large inoperable vehicles and crated cargo.
- RoRo Shipping is the cheapest shipping service available through us. Your cargo must be operable and capable of rolling onto and off the ship. This popular open-air service exposes your cargo to lousy weather conditions and other potential outdoor hazards. Before it is shipped off, ensure your cargo's value is fully covered under our insurance plans.
- Container Shipping: Container shipping is available to those with heavy equipment in a 40ft container. Since this shipping service protects your cargo the most, it costs more than the other options.
- Flat Rack Shipping: Flat rack shipping uses a metal frame to secure your cargo before it is placed on top of the ship for its travels to Thailand. With the cargo still fastened securely, the frame is cautiously lifted off the boat.
