We are now a little over two months away from the 73rd Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally! I want to dedicate this blog to talk about some of the recent updates about Sturgis 2013.
First, Easyriders Saloon has announced that they will be organizing a Bagger Show on Aug 8 with hosts Road Iron Magazine, Eddie Trotta, and John Shope of Dirty Bird Concepts. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and awards will be announced at 4 p.m. The prizes include a chance at having your bike featured in one of the Easyriders magazines, meeting the editors, winning trophies, or being invited to attend the invitational show in Columbus, OH.
There will be judges from Easyriders, Wrench, Road Iron, In the Wind and V-Twin magazines, in addition to being sponsored by Geico, Dennis Kirk, and Lucas Oil!
Simultaneously announced in May, the Broken Spoke Campground in Sturgis has partnered with Live Nation to host four concerts during Sturgis 2013. On tap will be The Black Crowes, Queens of the Stone Age, and country star, Gary Allan.
In addition to the concerts, the Broken Spoke Campground has expanded their amenities this year. The campground now boasts 600 acres of camping as well as a 5,000 sq. ft. swimming pool, 4 hot tubs, and 8 bars (including a 30,000 sq. ft. ride-thru biker bar). Admission into the campground gets you into the concerts and motorcycle events throughout the week as well as biker rodeos, a party bus, zip-line, helicopter rides, free shuttle, and much more.
If you’re looking for a ride on the wild side (and a little more burning rubber), you’ll be happy to know that the Amsoil Sturgis Nationals will be hosted once again at Sturgis 2013. The drag bike competition will take place August 5-7 at Sturgis Dragway. Races include Top Fuel, Pro Dragster, and a new addition this year—The Mickey Thompson Pro Gas “Quick Draw Challenge.” If you have a need for speed, don’t miss this event!
