Factors That Influence RV Shipping Cost
So many people think the cost of RV shipping is ridiculous but if you consider the factors that influence this cost, you will understand that no shipping can be successful without considering these factors.
Factors like shipping distance from your pickup location to your drop-off location (note that the cost of shipping locally differs from the cost of shipping internationally), mode of transportation, fuel price, transport season, and the type and weight of RV. Each of these factors contributes to RV shipping price.
Shipping an RV Domestically
A-1 Auto Transport makes shipping locally, whether intrastate or interstate, a breeze. The open-air ground technique is one of the methods we utilize; your vehicle will be delivered in an open trailer, or you may choose to ship it in an enclosed trailer or have it tied to a trailer.
International RV Shipping
International shipping is different and involves more processes than shipping an RV domestically. Just before shipping an RV globally, the customer can either transport it to the dock with all necessary papers or have it picked up by us. Our staff places and straps the vehicle in an offshore cargo container / flat-rack, or port professionals unload it immediately onto the Ro/Ro vessel.
The RV is then transported to the exit port, customs clearance, and loaded onto the ship. When the RV arrives at its destination, it will be hauled off the ship by the port agent, who will clear it through Customs and then either deliver it to the new residence or have the client pick it up directly from the dock.
RV Shipping Methods
Depending on your destination, your shipping budget, and other factors, you can pick one of several shipping options.
- Open-air and on the ground
- Shipping on a flat rack
- Container transport
- High priority shipping
- Enclosed ground Transportation
- Roll-On/Roll-Off
- Lift-On/Lift-Off
- Door to door delivery
How to Prepare your RV for Shipping
Before shipping your vehicle, we strongly urge you to thoroughly prepare it for transportation and begin with some basic measures.
- Check to see if it works.
- Turn off the alarm system.
- All unsecured parts in and out of the RV should be secured or removed.
- Clean the inside of the vehicle.
- Repair any leaks or damages.
- Make that the engine and fluids are in excellent shape.
