Required Documents

Whenever it is being imported internationally, a series of forms must be completed by the importer or the broker to be cleared by customs. An import license is required to move. A1-AT is a licensed importer. The Customs Department requires the following documentation to be cleared:

1. Import license from the Ministry of Trade.
2. Bill of Lading.
3. Invoice.
4. Environmental Levy Form.
5. Refrigerant Form from the National Ozone Office within the Ministry of Trade.

The Bill Of Lading or invoice completes a Customs Declaration form. Once the form is submitted, the value of the vehicle and the type of refrigerant will be classified and verified by the valuation officer.

The National Ozone Office has to approve and document the refrigerant form. Next, an Environmental Levy should be obtained from the Environmental Protection Unit. Once this form has been filled out, the importer can receive an Environmental Levy waiver from the Minister of Agriculture based on the age.

An Environmental Levy waiver can cost up to $4,000 for a vehicle older than a year and $1,000 for one at least one year old.
